Cat breed Turkish Angora

Persian. Breed Standard CFA

Basic: The ideal Persian should give the impression of a broad-bred, well-balanced cat with a sweet expression and soft rounded lines. Large round eyes, set wide on a large round head, contribute to this overall look and expression. A long thick coat softens the lines and emphasizes the roundness in the appearance of the cat.

Head round and massive, with a large width of the skull. Round muzzle with a round bone base. Well set on a short thick neck. The head (skull), when felt, is smooth, rounded, with a large protruding forehead, gently passing into the occipital region. It also has a rounded and smooth shape across the ears.

Nose: short, snub-nosed and wide, with a stop located between the eyes.

Cheeks: full. The closed mouth does not stand out much, but smoothly passes into the cheeks.

Jaws: wide and powerful.

The chin: full, well developed, clearly rounded, reflecting the proper bite.

The ears: small with rounded ends, inclined forward and not too open at the base. Set widely apart and low on the head, fitting into the rounded contour of the head.

Eyes: bright color, large, round, full. Planted evenly and broadly, giving a sweet expression to the face.

Body: compact (cobby), low on legs, wide and high in the chest, equally massive in the shoulders and in the sacrum, rounded in cross section and with a flat back. Good muscularity without signs of obesity. Large or medium in size. Quality is evaluated, not body size.

Legs: short, thick and strong. The front legs are straight. The hind legs should look straight when viewed from behind.

Paws: large, round and strong. Fingers are close to each other - five on the front legs and four on the hind legs.

Tail: short but proportional to body length. It is worn without curvature and at an angle below the back.

Wool: long and thick, separated from the body. It has a fine texture, shiny and vibrant. Long throughout the body, including the shoulders. The collar is huge, continuing into a train between the front legs. The bundles on the ears and fingers are long. The tail is very fluffy.

Disqualifying signs: a medallion or asterisk (a white spot under the chin, on the chest, armpits, or in the groin when white is not part of the general color type of this breed group). Tail with a kink or incorrect. Wrong number of fingers. Any visible weakness in the back of the body. Any visible deformity of the back. Deformation of the skull, leading to asymmetry of the muzzle and / or head. Strabismus. White fingers and not blue eyes for count o r-points.
All of the above disqualifying signs apply to all cats of the Persian breed. Each color group has its own disqualifying features, which are given together with the description of color.

GENERAL NOTES: Siberian cats are forest cats that first appeared in Russia, the first mention of which dates back to 1000, the formation of the breed is closely due to the harsh climate of Siberia. This cat is not an extreme type, the whole nature of which is due to the struggle for survival in harsh climatic conditions. Siberian cats are medium to large in size, with a pronounced double undercoat, very heavy for their size. The general impression is a strong and powerful animal with a cute expression of its face. Animals develop very slowly - up to 5 years of age. Cats in most cases are smaller than cats. All of these breed features should be taken into account if young animals or cats are involved in the comparison. Size is secondary to type. The overall impression is more rounded - without sharp transitions - the outlines of the body and head.

HEAD. FORM: Wedge of medium length with rounded contours, in good proportion to the body. Head tapering down and ending with rounded contours of the whisker pads. The cheekbones are neither set too high nor too low. The ears should be set wide, between the ears - the forehead is almost flat. In cats, the jaws are more developed, in cats - more mildly expressed outlines.

EARS: medium to large, with rounded tips, wide at the base and slightly inclined forward. Ears should be set as wide as possible. The coat is short and not very thick. Starting from the middle of the ear - the hair becomes longer and covers the base of the ear. Brushes are acceptable.

EYES: medium to large, almost round. The outer corner of the eye gradually narrows from the base of the ear. The eyes should be set wider than the width of one eye and should be open and expressive. There is no connection between the color or pattern of the coat and the color of the eyes, with the exception of color-point colors - in which the eyes should be blue.

CHIN: The chin is rounded, not protruding, forming a line with the nose line.

CHINES: cheekbones moderately oblong, full and round. The cheekbones form a smooth arc on the outside of the head.

PROFILE: the forehead is almost flat, forming a smooth line of transition to the nose with a small depression, if you look at the head of the animal in profile.
NECK: round, powerful.

BODY: BODY: a medium-length body with well-defined muscles, the line of the back is slightly higher than the line of the shoulders, rounded outlines, indicating a powerful physique.

LIMBS: medium length. Strong wide legs, hind legs slightly longer than front.

FORM OF PAW: The legs are rounded, preferably pubescent between the toes.

TAIL: tail of medium length, shorter than body length. It should be wide at the base, ending with a wide tip without thickenings and creases, well pubescent.

BODY: strong, powerful.

LENGTH: moderately long or long with DOUBLE undercoat. The coat on the shoulders and chest should be slightly shorter than on the rest of the body. There should be a rich collar around the head in adult animals. Seasonal spillage is acceptable. Sometimes the hair can curl slightly on the stomach and panties, but in general this is not typical for this breed.
TEXTURE: varies from hard to soft, depending on the color. Dense undercoat (in adult animals), more pronounced in winter.
COLOR / FIGURE: All colors and combinations are acceptable - with or without white. White staining is permissible in any quantity throughout the body and limbs. The presence or absence of white is acceptable in the chin, chest and abdomen. Any amount of white is acceptable. Bright colors and a clear pattern are desirable.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES: the animal should not be aggressive.

NOTE: due to the late development of Siberian animals, the age of the animal (kitten or young animal) must be taken into account when evaluating the texture of the coat and physical development.
