The nests in the ground are small, without external buildings. It lives along river valleys, in oases and tugays, along the banks of reservoirs and canals, near groundwater. There are both single nests and colonies from many nests. Nests are often located near shrubs, in thickets. In hot times, they are active in the shade of bushes and other shelters. They try to avoid open areas. In abundant deserts, this species is not found.
The winged flight in the north of the range in mid-July, and in the south - in late May - early June. Females found new families on their own.
Working 4-6 mm, females with a silky abdomen, 9-10 mm, males 9-10 mm.
Habitats: Lower Volga region, along the northern and western coasts of the Caspian Sea.
Public wasps (lat. Vespinae) - a subfamily of folded-winged wasps (Vespidae). The Vespinae subfamily includes the most highly developed (“eusocial”) wasps in the family, distinguished by the complex behavior and architecture of the nests. The characteristic morphological sign of Vespin is the presence of numerous hairs on the body and the shape of the abdomen (at the base of the abdomen, as if chopped off, in the remaining Vespidae, the base of the abdomen gradually tapers towards the chest).
Cockroaches, or cockroaches (Latin Blattoptera, = Blattodea) - a detachment of insects from the cockroach superorder (Dictyoptera). More than 7570 species of cockroaches are known, including more than 4640 species of cockroaches themselves and 2900 species of termites, which, according to modern concepts, are included in this squad.
It's time to fly!
The table below shows the summer periods for most species, collected on the basis of long-term observations by myrmecologists. A wide range should be understood as follows: in the southern regions of Russia years begin earlier, in the northern ones later. This process is also affected by weather conditions. For example, if the year is cold, years may linger for several weeks.
It is important to remember that only females can organize a new colony. Usually they are much larger than males. While females have wings, the years are considered incomplete, since they are not yet fertilized and will not be able to give rise to a new life. Therefore, fishing begins only a few days later, the field of early summer, selecting individuals without wings.
How to catch goosebumps
Catch only females, doing this as carefully as possible so as not to damage them - these insects are very fragile and sensitive, so it is important not to scare and injure them during fishing. And it’s best to buy a brood queen in a specialized store, where at any time of the year the right kind of ants is available, which has been selected and processed from parasites, capable of ensuring stable growth of the future colony!
