Family: cichlids (Cichlidae)

External description: Brown haplochromis has a very bright and variegated appearance, the body has a noticeable yellow color, the pattern of their black vertical stripes is green on the body. The dorsal plank has a red (more often) or blue color, the caudal fin more often has a red color, the head has noticeable blue shades. The color of the fish acquires as it approaches puberty

Natural habitat: inhabit the waters of Lake Victoria

Dimensions: grow up to 12 cm

Habitat layer: stay in the middle and lower layers

Behavior: very peaceful and peaceful fish, it is not necessary to keep it with active and aggressive fish, it can be territorial during spawning. It is recommended to keep in small groups from 6 fish, so the fish feel more confident

Arrangement of the aquarium: the minimum volume of the aquarium is 150 liters, at least 80 cm long, this is enough for a small group of 5-6 fish. In the aquarium, various shelters are needed: grottoes, caves and other elements of decoration

Water Parameters: temperature 24-27ºC, pH 8.1-8.4

Nutrition: take all the food in the aquarium, but it is recommended to feed very varied including frozen food

Breeding: possible, but reliable information. As a rule, with a good content of special difficulties, the fish begin the whole process on their own, the male arranges a place and invites the females, at this moment the males show some territoriality. In the process of spawning, the female takes the eggs into her mouth and so contains for a long time while she does not eat anything. The fry are capable almost immediately as soon as they begin to swim, the starting food of the crustacean nauplii

Note: the fish is simple enough to keep, but it is recommended that beginner aquarists do not start the practice of keeping this fish
