Belgian mastiff
( MatinBelge, Chien de Trait, Belgian Mastiff)

Standard: RecognizedFCIconditionally.

Belongs to the group:Dogovye >> mastiffs.

Homeland:Belgium.

DESCRIPTION. The main feature of the Belgian mastiff breed is congenital bobtail. The color is fawn or brindle, sometimes with a dark mask and (or) white markings. The bulgian mastiff is a very strong dog, as evidenced by its sculptured muscles, powerful neck, strong bones and massive skull. Height at the withers 69 - 78 cm, weight 45 - 50 kg. The coat is short, straight and thick enough.

HISTORY. The Belgian mastiff, like the hounds of St. Hubert, was used for hunting in the wake and sighted and, of course, for guard service. Its type resembles large French hounds, which speaks of its French origin, but, having arrived in Belgium, it has changed somewhat. The International Kennel Federation added it to the Belgian Dog Club's supplementary list, indicating that the breed could disappear, and the Royal Society of Saint Hubert claims that the breed no longer exists. In any case, fragmentary and conflicting data are available about this rare breed.

CHARACTERISTIC. Belgian mastiff - a tireless worker. His free and confident movements betray vulture and hardness. This dog is unfriendly, loyal only to its owner and his family. The Belgian mastiff needs physical activity to give its energy output.
