Swedish Like (Emthund) heavier and larger than its closest relative - the Norwegian Elkhound, whose share fell to great fame. Weight about 30 kg, height at the withers 59-64 cm.
The limbs are slender, strong, hind - with slightly pronounced corners of the joints, muscular. Deep chest, moderately selected stomach and strong shoulders give Laika an athletic look, which corresponds to her tirelessness on the hunt. A wedge-shaped head with erect spiky ears, a tail bent to the back with a ring. Color is gray-gray with brightened areas of the lower parts of the body and legs.
It is extremely difficult to classify the breeds of Scandinavian dogs that have existed among local hunters for several centuries. Emthund was used for hunting big game: a bear in Norway and an elk in Sweden. Since bear hunting is a thing of the past, emthund is now working on prey such as lynx, wolf and elk. Emthund is one of the oldest among dog breeds.
The breed is recognized by FCI.
Popular in his homeland in Sweden as a hunting dog and pet emthund - a passionate hunter who prefers open spaces and fresh air to everything else, adores his master.
