Like any predator, a cat needs special nutrition. Her body needs are such that there should be plenty of animal protein in her diet, and, more simply, meat. But not all meat is perfect for a cat.

We have been together for a long time - a cat and a man. For more than two thousand years, cats have been entering a person’s house in order to bring warmth and comfort, tenderness and affection into it. Europeans say that if you have a cat, you do not come to the house, but to the house. But even after so many centuries of coexistence, the cat remains a mystery to us. Not everyone knows that no one has ever tamed cats, she is the only pet that came to a person’s house on her own, but she remained to live on an equal footing in him. Only a cat uses sounds adapted to human hearing to communicate with humans, but not used in communication with fellow tribesmen.

And only the cat, living next to the person, remained 100% predator. This does not mean that one day the cat will attack your friends with a growl. Although, in fairness, it must be admitted that a hamster, a canary, or a fish in an aquarium runs the risk of knowing the predilections of a small predator.

But now we do not want to talk about this. Like any predator, a cat needs special nutrition. Her body needs are such that there should be plenty of animal protein in her diet, and, more simply, meat. But not all meat is perfect for a cat.

In order to understand what exactly your pet needs, you need to remember how cats behave in natural conditions - when they can get their own food.

So, adult cats:

1. Cats love to hunt. Their victims are birds, mice, lizards. Also, a cat with pleasure will destroy bird's nests. But you probably have never seen a cat hunting a cow or waiting for a flock of sheep in ambush.
2. A hungry cat eats the whole victim, if it is a mouse, then with wool, if a bird - then with fluff.
3. A well-fed cat can afford to pick and choose - eat only the liver or only the victim’s stomach.
4. A cat will never pick up a dead dove or a hare hit by a car.
5. Sometimes cats with pleasure "picks grass" as a real herbivore. But not all. She carefully chooses the exact grass that she needs.
6. Cats rarely diversify their diet. If they live in the basement, then their main food will be mice; if they hunt on the street, birds.
7. The cat does not hunt "on schedule." She goes hunting several times a day, as she develops a feeling of hunger.

Based on these observations, we will try to understand what is organic for your pet. And so, a cat needs a protein of a bird or small animals. For her, both muscles (meat) and offal (liver, stomach, heart, etc.) are important, and the latter, as a rule, is seen as a delicacy. She does not use meat of large animals in her diet. Firstly, because these animals are not available to her as a hunter, and secondly, the meat is too hard for the teeth of a small predator.

  • A cat needs not only nutrients, but also products that, although not digested, stimulate the intestines.
  • Cats do not feed on carrion.
  • A cat needs some substances of plant origin.
  • Cats do not seek to diversify their diet. For them, eating organic foods is more organic.
Scheduled meals do not please the cat. Her soul prefers constant access to food. Now the task is getting complicated. We need to decide what is needed for proper nutrition of a small kitten. Unfortunately, you will not be able to manage some observations here and you will have to combine observations with arithmetic.

1. All children (not only feline, but also human) are actively growing, actively developing, actively playing, it seems 24 hours a day.
2. The metabolism of kittens is much higher than that of adult cats, and the incontrovertible confirmation of this is the frequency of visits by the kitten to the kitchen and "secluded places."
3. The appetite of a healthy kitten is always there. Remember how funny kittens look asleep in a bowl in order to wake up and start eating again.

And now the puzzle:

On average, the weight of a newborn kitten is 110-120 grams, the weight of a two-month-old kitten is about 800 grams, and a five-month-old kitten is close to two kilograms. A two-month-old kitten, when fed with natural feed, consumes from 120 to 170 grams of feed daily, Four-month-old 240-270. Simple calculations show that for every gram of a baby’s own weight he has to eat 0.2 grams of feed daily! But for every gram of the weight of a five-month-old kitten, which has already ceased to gain weight so rapidly, it takes only 0.12 grams of feed. And so, the conclusions. Kittens eat a lot. To absorb a large amount of food for a small kitten is quite difficult. Therefore, the kitten’s food should be nutritious, balanced, easily absorbed by the baby’s body and provide the kitten with all the necessary nutrients. And, of course, the proteins and fats must necessarily be of animal origin, since the kitten, like its mother, is a predator, and predators cannot absorb soy and other vegetable proteins. The same requirements apply to feed for pregnant and lactating cats, because it is from the nutrition of the cat-mother that the health, normal growth and development of the babies depends.

We continue our research and try to figure out what kind of food an aging cat needs.

With age, metabolic processes slow down. Reduces energy consumption. The level of hormones in the blood decreases. Cats become less emotional and mobile. Aging affects not only the body, but also the behavior of the animal. Alas! The concept of "senile bulimia" is known not only in humans, but in cats.

1. Inactivity and bulimia leads to the formation of excess weight.
2. A decrease in metabolic processes in combination with low motor activity leads to a decrease in the rate of intestinal motility, which in turn leads to the accumulation of toxic substances in the body.
3. An increased level of toxins in the blood, coupled with being overweight, accelerates the aging process.

So, an aging cat needs food, which, on the one hand, is not very high-calorie, on the other hand, it stimulates the intestines and removes toxins from the body. And the last question. What does the owner need?

The owner needs his cat to like the food. To feed her was not a problem, but simplifying the feeding process did not harm the pet. To feed consistent with the physiological needs of the cat at all stages of her life. So that the smell of the cat’s toilet is not stinking, and when you return home from work, you caressed your pet, and did not rush to clean his toilet. To make the cat look well-groomed, happy, truly elite.

It turns out that cats do not need so much. And what does the owner need? The owner needs his cat to like the food. To feed her was not a problem. Elite feeds are produced, as a rule, not by large multi-brand companies, but by small companies with their own research laboratories and strict product quality control. Such feeds are more expensive than groceries or economy and premium class feeds, but the consumption is much less - an average of 400 grams of a pack is enough for a cat for a week. Today in Russia, perhaps, you can give only one example of elite feed - this Bosh sanabelle.
